Wake Up, Wake Up, Church!

Have you ever received a wake-up call? Most of us do on a regular basis. We have a clock radio which wakes us up a little more gently. Some use an alarm clock or ask the motel clerk to call them. I remember my dad calling me when I was at home, it was time to wake up and get up. For those in a heavy sleep or deep sleep or sound sleep, it may take a shaking to awake them. This is the question a Philippian jailer asked of Paul and Silas, "…Sirs, what must I do to be saved? (Acts 16:30) Paul and Silas were on a mission trip and were beaten and thrown into jail for casting out a demon spirit from a young girl. This is the season when typically we greet one another with the words, "Happy Easter"! These words seem very artificial, inadequate, shallow, and somewhat repulsive. This is the season to celebrate the greatest moment for all of mankind forever!

There has never been, never will be, nor ever need to be another event such as our Lord and Savior paid to redeem us for all eternity. This should be the celebration of celebrations! more | archives

Light for the Path
Lesson 6

The Bible says that when he started his ministry, Jesus left his boyhood home of Nazareth and dwelt in Capernaum on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. "The people which sat in darkness saw a great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up." (Matthew 4:16) It does not mean literal darkness but spiritual darkness. Notice that it says they were in the shadow of death. But when Jesus came into that region, great spiritual light came. more | archives
